Many different and highly skilled artisan techniques are required in bringing a Zazou vase to life. The body is first mouthblown into a mould, with clear glass enveloping rich coloured glass. Before the piece cools, semi-molten black glass is applied, by hand, creating the pattern of the eventual decoration at the same time. Finally, the opening of each vase is finished by scissor-cutting the hot glass, to leave a beautifully soft, rounded rim in keeping with the look and feel of the object. Whilst each piece is a work of art and decorative object in itself, Zazou is also suitable to be used with a wide variety of flowers throughout the year to create the most beautiful floral arrangements, bursting with colour.
