A pair of mouth-blown balloon glasses with fluted bowls, hand painted by skilled craftspeople with green and grey lustre. The sheer colours diffuse towards the centre of each piece.

Materials & making

The Dusk balloon goblet is mouth blown by skilled glassblowers. The fine optic effect is achieved by making impressions in the glass while it is still molten. The fine stem is drawn from the bowl of the glass and the foot is applied by hand. The rim is fire-polished to achieve a smooth finish. The glass is decorated by hand using metallic lustre paints which diffuse towards the centre. It is then fired at high temperatures to create a dual colour lustrous finish.

Care

Handwash in warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth.
