Vienna takes its cues from the classic European tradition of glass serving pieces - the cake stand as a fixture of patisserie display, coffee-house culture and domestic hosting. The design is deliberately simple: clear glass, clean lines, soft melted rims. The pieces are at home on a kitchen counter holding a Sunday cake, on a dining table for a cheese course, or set out at a celebration with something to be admired before it is cut into. The collection is made up of six pieces - different combinations of plate, cakestand and dome. The stems of the cakestands are drawn from the body while the glass is still hot, and the feet are shaped and applied by hand with wooden tools, producing the seamless profile characteristic of traditional stemware.
