Zinc

Zinc

The Zinc Collection is a group of hand-painted glass vases and candle holders finished with a lustrous metallic glaze that evokes the weathered, slightly iridescent surface of natural zinc. The lustre is applied by hand and fired at high temperature to fix it permanently, and each piece carries a gently pleated texture that catches light and deepens the metallic effect.

Zinc takes its cues from the lustrous, slightly iridescent surface of natural zinc metal - the soft grey-silver finish that weathers in beautiful ways on architectural features, planters and industrial objects. A material reference rather than a literal copy.

Each piece is mouth-blown into a mould that creates a pleated texture on the glass surface. The pieces are then hand-painted with a metallic lustre glaze and fired at high temperature to fix the finish.

Crafted from clear glass with hand-applied metallic lustre. The lustre is fused to the glass during firing, becoming part of the surface rather than a removable coating that could wear off through repeated use.

LSA Zinc Collection

Zinc is a collection of hand-painted glass vases and candle holders finished with a lustrous metallic glaze that evokes the weathered, slightly iridescent surface of natural zinc. The lustre is applied by hand and fired at high temperature to fix it permanently, and the pieces themselves carry a gently pleated texture in the underlying glass that catches light and deepens the metallic effect. The collection includes a set of four rounded tealight holders, a vase-lantern that works for both flowers and candles, and a larger vase - giving flexibility across decorative uses from a subtle candlelight accent to a substantial vase for stems. Each piece is mouth-blown in Europe by skilled glassmakers and hand-decorated with the zinc-effect lustre in a specialist painting workshop. Because both the mouth-blowing and the hand-painting are done by skilled craftspeople, small variations occur across pieces - giving the collection part of its character. Zinc suits interiors where a soft metallic accent is welcome without the hard, bright shine of polished silver or chrome.
