LSA Balcony Collection
Borrowing their structural, offset shapes from the abundant window boxes and balconies of European cities, Balcony is a collection of mouth-blown glass self-watering planters. The design is rooted in the principles of biophilic living - the idea that bringing plants into our homes reconnects us with the natural world and shapes calmer spaces. Each planter is made from two mouth-blown pieces. The upper vessel holds the plant, while the lower reservoir feeds water to the roots through sub-irrigation - an efficient approach that allows herbs, bulbs and small houseplants to thrive without daily watering. The olive green cased colourway is created by encasing coloured glass within a layer of clear before blowing, giving the piece a richness that deepens when light passes through it. The melted rims lend a soft, modern finish. Balcony sits as comfortably on a kitchen windowsill as it does on a city balcony or studio shelf - a practical, sculptural object for people who want greenery close at hand.
