Gems

Gems is a comprehensive collection of drinkware and decorative objects finished in tonal palettes drawn from polished gemstones - sapphire blues, garnet reds, jade greens and warm ambers. Each piece carries a fluted surface and is hand-painted with iridescent lustres that catch and refract light, fired at high temperature to set the colour permanently into the glass.

Iridescent colour and a fluted surface texture mimic the visual language of cut precious stones - sapphires, garnets, jade and amber translated into glass and porcelain. The pleated profile catches and refracts light across each piece, animating the colour as it moves.

Each piece is mouth-blown with the fluted surface texture formed during the blowing process. Iridescent lustres are then hand-painted in assorted tonal sheers and fired at high temperature to set the colour permanently.

Crafted from cased glass - coloured glass layered within clear during gathering - with hand-applied iridescent lustres bonded to the surface through firing. The result is a colour that is structural to the material rather than applied to it.
