The Umberto Collection is a group of mouth-blown vases evocative of antique apothecary jars - the tall, rounded, hand-finished vessels that once held herbs, tinctures and remedies in traditional pharmacies. Each piece is made and finished entirely by hand by master glassblowers, with the scissor-cut rim giving the top edge its characteristic thick, rounded soft look.

Umberto takes its cues from antique apothecary jars - the rounded, practical vessels of traditional pharmacies, with their generous forms and hand-finished rims. The collection celebrates the character of those original objects, valuing their proportion and balance rather than their contents.

Each vase is mouth-blown by a master glassblower into a wooden pre-mould, then scissor-cut and shaped by the master craftsman. Scissor-cutting is the most skilled of all finishing techniques, producing a thick, soft-looking rounded rim.

Crafted from clear glass formed in wooden pre-moulds. The wooden moulds impart a natural quality to the surface that differs subtly from metal-moulded pieces - the timber leaves its faint mark on the glass during shaping.
