LSA Void Collection
The Void Collection is a small range of mouth-blown jugs and bottles defined by an unexpected detail - a hole pierced through the body of each piece while the glass is still hot and malleable. The resulting elliptical hollows are hand-formed, organic and unrepeatable, making each item a genuinely individual piece. The design celebrates the sculptural, transformational qualities of handmade glass, using the physical possibilities of hot glass to produce a unique shape. The collection includes a jug, a carafe with cork stopper, and an oil and vinegar bottle with cork stopper. Every piece is mouth-blown by skilled glassmakers in Europe, with the body formed first in an oval cross-section and the spout shaped by hand from the hot glass. The distinctive hole is made by piercing the glass over a flame while the material is still soft, and then shaping the opening with wooden tools to define the final contour. The result is a collection of functional serving pieces that also function as sculptural objects.
