Producing a mouth-blown glass plate of this size requires considerable dexterity and experience, and the piece can only be shaped by the most skilled glass craftsmen. The thick stem and disc-shaped foot are applied by hand.

At 40cm in diameter, Konstantin is a king among cakestands. The collection treats scale itself as the design idea - the size of the plate is the statement, with form, proportion and finish all subordinated to the discipline of making at this dimension.

Mouth-blown by master glassblowers and scissor-cut by master craftsmen to create this large centrepiece. The thick stem and disc-shaped foot are applied by hand. Scissor-cutting at this scale is the most skilled finishing technique in glassmaking.

Crafted from clear glass with a scissor-cut rim and hand-applied stem and foot. A 40cm plate of this kind is technically demanding to produce - only the most skilled craftsmen can shape glass at this scale.

The thick stem and disc-shaped foot are applied by hand, joining the components into a single continuous piece. Scissor-cutting is the most skilled of finishing techniques - the top edge of the glass is reheated until semi-molten, and the worker then cuts away the excess glass around the rim, leaving the thick rounded soft-looking finish that defines the piece. Konstantin is not for every table or every occasion. It is a cakestand for the moments when scale, ambition and unmistakable craft are exactly what the occasion calls for.
